Miami Hurricanes News: ACC Kickoff Days, Potential 5-star DL visit

Head coach Mario Cristobal, quarterback Tyler Van Dyke, center Matt Lee and safety Kamren Kinchens are representing the Miami Hurricanes football program at ACC Kickoff in Charlotte on Tuesday. Five-star defensive lineman Aydin Breland told Greg Biggins of 247 Sports that he might visit Miami this weekend.

Cristobal and Van Dyke are making their second appearance at ACC Kickoff representing Miami. Kinchens and Lee will be making their first appearance at ACC Kickoff. There is a lot on the agenda this year for Miami. New coordinators, nearly half of a new roster and the ACC contract will likely be discussed.

Miami will be the second team to appear at ACC Kickoff on Tuesday. Commissioner Jim Phillips will hold a forum from 9:30 to 10:30. Head coach Dino Babers will lead the Syracuse contingent at ACC Kickoff commencing at 11:00. Miami will appear on the podium from 12:30 to 1:00 PM which will be broadcast by the ACC Network.

Breland took his official visit to Miami the weekend of June 9. With the recruiting dead period that began in late June opening up this weekend, Breland is visiting Texas A&M for their pool party first. Breland told Biggins he is going to Texas A&M and most likely to Miami too. There are no crystal balls logged for Breland.

Louisville and Miami announced on Monday that the winner in their annual meetings in the new ACC scheduling format will earn The Schnellenberger Trophy. Howard Schellenberger was 41–16 in five seasons with the Miami Hurricanes and earned one national championship. Schnellenberger was 54–56–2 at Louisville.

The College Football News ranks Miami 20th in their preseason rankings of all 131 FBS teams. Defensive tackle Leonard Taylor is the Miami Hurricanes β€œplayer you need to know” per CFN. Miami moves up from their 2022 CFN preseason ranking which was 24th. Miami was 62nd in the final 2022 CFN rankings.
