The Miami football program has three of the top 10 transfers in the 2023 cycle in the ACC. Carter Bahns of 247 Sports examined the top 10 transfers in the ACC in an article posted on Tuesday. Guard Javion Cohen is the third highest-rated 2023 ACC transfer, center Matt Lee is seventh and linebacker Francisco Mauigoa is 10th.

The Miami football program has significantly upgraded its depth and experience with the 2023 transfer class. Cohen and Lee are projected starters on the offensive line. Mauigoa is slated to be the starting middle LB for Miami in 2023. Several other transfers on the Miami roster will compete to be starters in 2023.

The 2023 Miami transfer class finished seventh nationally. Bahns wrote short summaries for Cohen, Lee and Mauigoa. Bahns highlighted “60 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and an interception, which he returned 95 yards for a touchdown” for Mauigoa in 2022.

Bahns wrote “As a three-year starter and three-time All-AAC honoree at UCF, Matt Lee developed into one of college football’s best offensive linemen…(who) rated as the third-best center in the nation per Pro Football Focus in 2022.” Lee has quickly emerged as a leader on the Miami offensive line.

Bahns called Cohen the most notable of the new numerous impact OL for Miami in 2023. In addition to Cohen and Lee, five-star freshmen offensive tackles Francis Mauigoa and Samson Okunlola are expected to have an impact for Miami this season. Cohen was named second-team All-SEC in 2022.

Other potential impact transfers for Miami are cornerbacks Davonte Brown and Jaden Davis and tight end Cam McCormick, running back Ajay Allen and wide receiver Tyler Harrell. Cornerback Jaidus Richard, defensive tackles Anthony Campbell, Branson Deen and Thomas Gore and linebackers K.J. Cloyd and Rocky Shelton add depth.

Brown, Davis and McCormick are expected to compete for starting spots in training camp. Cloyd could push Wesley Bissainthe for snaps at LB. Allen, Harrell, Richard, Campbell, Deen, Gore and Shelton should be in the rotation in 2023. Mario Cristobal and his staff have flipped nearly half the roster that includes the transfer additions.
