The Miami Herald wrote an extensive report that stated “’Red flags on top of red flags’: Problems mount for UM athletics booster John Ruiz.” According to Manny Navarro of The Athletic and Gary Ferman of CaneSport, Canes Connection will be the dominant NIL group for the Miami Hurricanes in the future.

The article from the Herald went into detail about the dealings in Life Wallet, Ruiz’s company. Navarro reported tweeted that it is expected that Canes Connection will be 100 percent of the name, image and likeness deals for Miami Hurricanes athletes in the future. Ferman quoted Ruiz as saying “It is business as usual…I am not the target of a civil or criminal investigation.” More should come out as the story evolves.

The Canes County poll included kickers and punters. Kicker Jose Borregales was fourth, followed by kicker/punter Matt Bosher, punter Lou Hedley and kicker Carlos Huerta. Half the poll was recency bias. Michael Badgley broke Huerta’s all-time program record with 403 points from 2014 through 2017.
