Miami football players, safety Kamren Kinchens, offensive lineman Javion Cohen and kicker Andy Borregales were named to the 2023 preseason All-ACC team on Wednesday morning. Miami is tied for third in the ACC with Duke and North Carolina having three players on the 2023 preseason All-ACC team.

Clemson is first with seven players named All-ACC and Florida State is second with four. Kinchens was a first-team All-ACC and an All-American in 2022. Cohen was named second-team All-SEC in 2022 before transferring from Alabama to Miami during the offseason. Borregales was honorable mention All-ACC in 2022.

Borregales and Kinchens are entering their third seasons with the Miami football program. Cohen has two seasons of eligibility remaining. The SEC also named Cohen to their All-Freshman team in 2020. Cohen helps Miami upgrade its offensive line and add experience with Central Florida transfer center Matt Lee entering 2023.

In his final two seasons at Alabama Cohen played in 26 games and started 22. Borregales is fourth in Miami history making 82.9 percent making 34 of his 41 field goal attempts in his two seasons. Borregales is 13-14 inside 30 yards, 12-15 from 30-39 yards, 4-5 from 40 to 49 yards and missed his only attempt from 50 plus.

Kinchens has been outstanding in each of his two seasons with Miami but had a breakout year in 2022. Kinchens has 103 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, 16 passes defended, six interceptions with one for a TD. In 2022 Kinchens had 59 tackles, 1.5 TFLs, 1 forced fumble, 12 passes defended and six interceptions.

Kinchens and departed punter Louis Hedley were the only first-team All-ACC players for Miami in 2022. Graduated tight end Will Mallory earned second-team All-ACC in 2022. Running back Henry Parrish and cornerback Tyrique Stevenson earned third-team All-ACC in 2022. Five Miami players were ACC honorable mention in 2022.

Offensive tackle D.J. Scaife, guard Jalen Rivers, defensive end Akheem Mesidor and defensive tackle Leonard Taylor were all named honorable mention All-ACC with Borregales in 2022. All but Scaife of those five players return in 2023. They should all challenge to earn All-ACC following the 2023 season.
