Gaby Urrutia and Steve Wiltfong of 247 Sports and the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine all predict that the Miami football program will flip four-star edge rusher, Elias Rudolph from Michigan. Rudolph committed to Michigan on July 3. Rudolph is the 292nd prospect, 21st edge rusher and 40th recruit in Florida in 2024.
Defensive line coach Jason Taylor has led the recruitment of Rudolph. On3 predicts Miami with a 52.1 percent chance for a commitment from Rudolph and Michigan with a 44.1 percent possibility for the 6’4 and 205-pound prospect. The recruitment of Rudolph appears to be down to Miami and Michigan.
Rudolph has visited Miami twice, including an official visit in June. Michigan and Pittsburgh also received official visits from Rudolph in June. Cincinnati, Florida State, Kentucky, Ohio State, Penn State and Tennessee received unofficial visits from Rudolph. Miami has a commitment from four-star edge rusher Marquis Lightfoot.
This is the second class in a row Miami is poised to flip a Michigan commitment. Four-star defensive lineman Collins Acheampong flipped from Michigan to the Miami football program in the 2023 class. Miami signed the seventh-best 2023 class. The 2024 Miami class is currently ranked 19th.
In addition to Lightfoot, Miami also has a commitment from four-star defensive lineman Artavius Jones. Joe Salave’a and Taylor have made a huge impact in recruiting. Miami is poised to have an excellent defensive line class for the second year in a row. The Hurricanes signed four blue-chip DL in the 2023 class.
A commitment from Rudolph would be big for Miami after losing out on five-star edge rusher Colin Simmons who committed to Texas this week. Miami currently has seven blue-chip commits in the 2024 class. Three of the 2024 blue-chip commits are on defense and four are on offense.
The 2024 class is slowly solidifying. Four-star DL Kamarion Franklin who Miami has recruited heavily began trending to Auburn this week. Four-star safety Zaquan Patterson remains projected to Miami without a commitment date planned. Miami has at least one player committed for 2024 at every position.
