Miami Hurricanes News: Training camp final week, recruits decisions
The Miami Hurricanes football team is entering its final week of training camp before they begin preparation for the September 1 season opener versus Miami (Ohio). Greg Biggins of 247 Sports reported, “Five-Star Aydin Breland getting closer to decision.” Breland visited Miami the weekend of June 16.
The Miami Hurricanes football Twitter account posted early that fall camp was over. Offensive line coach Alex Mirabal responded with a correction stating that three more practices remained. Several starting positions remain open for Miami entering the last week of training camp.
David Lake of Inside the U wrote that cornerback“Davonte Brown has put in the work to be Miami’s top corner in 2023.” At 6’2 and 185 pounds, Brown provides the Miami football team with much-needed length at CB. Lake wrote an extensive examination of how Brown has earned his projected spot as the top Miami CB.
No 247 Sports crystal balls have been logged for Breland as his decision nears. Biggins stated “Physically, Breland looks like a college player right now. He has an athletic 6-5, 295 pound frame and still looks lean.” On3 lists Oregon with the best chance for a Breland commitment at 23.9 percent. Miami has a 15.0 percent chance.
Four-star safety Zaquan Patterson will announce his college commitment on Saturday according to 247 Sports. There are no 247 Sports crystal balls logged for Patterson. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine projects the Miami Hurricanes Football program with a 91.3 percent chance for a Patterson commitment.
Canes County continued their series asking readers to vote on the best players at each Miami position. The results of the best Miami CB were published on Sunday. Brandon Harris finished tied for third with Ronnie Lippett and Duane Starks followed by Antrel Rolle and Phillip Buchanon.
Nick Kosko of On3 wrote about the predictions for every Miami Hurricanes football game this season from the ESPN Football Power Index. Miami is favored by the FPI in seven of its 12 2023 games. In the game versus Texas A&M, Miami is given a 49 percent chance to win in a near toss-up per the FPI.
