CBS Sports and ESPN pick Miami football 7th in ACC

The Miami football team was picked seventh in the ACC by CBS Sports and ESPN. CBS Sports had 10 “ACC expert picks 2023: Most overrated and underrated teams, projected order of finish, bold predictions.” Andrea Adelson and David Hale of ESPN both picked Miami to finish seventh in the ACC.

The Miami football team was picked fifth in the ACC preseason Poll of 176 media voters. Miami received 1,553 points in the ACC Preseason Poll. Clemson led all voters in the ACC Preseason Poll with 103 first-place votes and 2,370 points. Florida State was second with 67 and 2,304 and North Carolina third with five and 1,981.

North Carolina State was the only other team ahead of Miami. The Wolfpack received one first-place vote and 1,662 points. The consensus among the majority of the ACC writers who see Miami play versus the national analysts and writers at CBS Sports and ESPN are more confident in the 2023 Hurricanes.

Dennis Dodd, Chip Patterson and Barrett Sallee of CBS Sports agreed with Adelson and Hale and picked Miami to finish seventh in the ACC in 2023. David Cobb, Jerry Palm and Sallee all picked Miami as their most overrated team in the ACC in the expert picks. Tom Fornelli and Palm pick Miami to finish fifth in the ACC.

Shehan Jeyarajah picks Miami to finish eighth in the ACC among the CBS expert picks. Will Backus and Cobb pick Miami to finish ninth. After finishing with a 5-7 record in 2022 and fifth in the ACC Coastal Division, Miami is going to have to prove itself on the field to its detractors during the 2023 season.

The game versus Texas A&M in week two is critical for the perception of the Miami football program. A Hurricanes win could gain them a national ranking preceded by a victory over Miami (Ohio). Texas A&M was picked as one of the most overrated teams in the SEC and an average projection of 3.5 in the SEC East by CBS Sports.
