Miami Hurricanes News: Training camp updates, freshmen to watch
The Miami Hurricanes football team conducted its penultimate practice of training camp on Wednesday. Defensive backs Damari and Devonte Brown, Te’Cory Couch, Jaden Davis and Jaidus Richard spoke after practice on Wednesday. Adam Gorney of Rivals named his ACC freshmen to watch.
Susan Miller Degnan of the Miami Herald wrote “Brothers through blood, teammates through the U. Miami CBs Davonte, Damari Brown shine.” The Browns were asked questions about each other and discussed the advice that Devonte gave to his freshman brother Damari. Mario Cristobal praised the Browns earlier this week.
Couch praised his relationships with former Miami Hurricanes cornerbacks Tyrique Stevenson and DJ Ivey who are now in the NFL with the Chicago Bears and Cincinnati Bengals. Couch is one of the most experienced players on the 2023 Miami football roster with 48 career games and 22 starts since 2019.
Gorney included defensive lineman Rueben Bain and offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa in “ACC Spotlight: Freshmen to watch.” Gorney praised Bain and Mauigoa for the production they had during their senior years of high school in 2022. Bain and Mauigoa have been continually praised ahead of the 2023 season.

. Mark Schlabach projects Miami versus Kentucky in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl. Nick Bonagura picks Miami versus Oregon State in the Holiday Bowl. Miami has never played in either the Duke’s Mayo Bowl in Charlotte or the Holiday Bowl in San Diego.
Steve Wiltfong of 247 Sports wrote about major 2024 Miami target David Stone with his commitment announcement coming on Saturday. Wiltfong wrote that “No program is recruiting Stone harder” than Miami. Oklahoma is the favorite for a commitment from Stone, but Miami and Michigan State are pushing.
