Head coach Mario Cristobal, defensive coordinator Lance Guidry and offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson spoke to the media as the Miami Hurricanes prepare for its season opener on Friday night versus Miami (Ohio). The first Mario Cristobal TV Show of the season was also released on Monday.

Susan Miller-Degnan of the Miami Herald wrote about the “News and many names from Miami coordinators Dawson, Guidry at opening-week press session.” Miller-Degnan discussed the history of Dawson and Guidry prior to Miami and extensively quoted them. That included Guidry coaching two seasons at Miami (Ohio).

Marcus Benjamin of Canes County wrote that “Miami coaches confident in backup quarterbacks, if Van Dyke sits.” Cristobal stated that quarterback Tyler Van Dyke has been a full participant in practice this week. If Van Dyke cannot play on Friday, Cristobal is confident Jacurri Brown and Emory Williams are winning QBs.

Christopher Stock of Inside the U wrote in his Offensive Notebook: Hurricanes searching for top-flight wide receiver.” The article was based on comments from Dawson that the Miami Hurricanes do not have a 100-reception wide receiver returning and are looking for someone who will step up and become the alpha.

Brad Crawford of 247 Sports examined “College football stocks: Teams to buy, sell heading into Week 1 of 2023 season.” Crawford named Miami as one of the teams whose stock he would buy. Upgrades through the transfer portal and particularly on the offensive line is why he would buy stock in Miami.

The Miami Women’s basketball team released its non-conference schedule on Monday. Highlights of the Miami non-conference schedule are at Mississippi State on November 29, versus DePaul on December 8 and against Baylor in San Antonio as part of the Hall of Fame Series on December 16.
