The Miami football program ranks in the top five of the Consensus ACC Power Rankings. Miami is third in the ESPN Football Power Index. Miami is fifth in the On3 ACC Power Rankings behind Clemson, Duke, North Carolina and Florida State. Miami is fourth in the Saturday Road ACC Power rankings.

The Miami football team rose one spot to 20th in the National FPI after its 38-3 season-opening win over Miami (Ohio) on Friday. Miami has an opportunity to significantly improve its ranking next week when it hosts Texas A&M on Saturday afternoon. The Aggies fell one spot to 17th nationally in the FPI this week.

Texas A&M began the season with a 52-10 win over New Mexico. The FPI projects Miami with a 53.2 percent chance to defeat Texas A&M on Saturday. Miami is favored to win every game this season by the FPI with the exceptions of games at North Carolina and Florida State and versus Clemson.

Florida State, Duke and North Carolina all won their games as the teams ranked ahead of Miami in the On3 ACC Power Rankings. Clemson was defeated 28-7 at Duke as the only team ranked ahead of Miami in the ACC Power Rankings. Florida State beat LSU 45-24 and North Carolina beat South Carolina 31-17.

"ON3 ACC Power Ranking summary5. Miami Hurricanes (1-0)“Miami opened the season with a convincing victory over Miami (Ohio). The team’s rushing attack, led by Henry Parrish Jr. and Mark Fletcher, looked particularly potent against the RedHawks. The real early-season challenge for Miami comes this week versus Texas A&M.They were two of the most disappointing teams in the country last season. If the Hurricanes are able to pull off a win, it would be a sign of improvements occurring within Mario Cristobal‘s program.”"

Miami moved up one spot in the Saturday Road ACC Power Rankings to fourth. Clemson fell three spots to fifth allowing Miami to move up. Saturday Road ranks Florida State first, North Carolina second and Duke third in their ACC Power Rankings. Miami plays at North Carolina on October 14 and Florida State on November 11.

"4. Miami (Last week: 5)Miami looked legitimately improved in its Week 1 win. The Canes were able to run the ball at will and put together a dominant defensive performance. Texas A&M will be a different kind of test, but at least Miami is off to a good start."

Other rankings have the Miami football team lower than the consensus of fourth in the ACC. The game on Saturday versus Texas A&M is huge for the perception of Miami after finishing the 2022 season 5-7. The Aggies also finished 5-7 in 2022. The loser on Saturday will likely face continued scrutiny after a disappointing 2022 season.

Miami is favored to win each of its first five games this season by the FPI. The Hurricanes can build a lot of equity with voters if they defeat the Aggies. After Texas A&M, Miami hosts Bethune-Cookman, plays at Temple, has a bye week and then hosts Georgia Tech before playing at North Carolina.
