Miami Hurricanes News: TAMU preparation, ACC Power Rankings
Coverage of the Miami Hurricanes football team’s preparation for Texas A&M on Saturday continued as four players met with the media on Wednesday. Miami is a consensus top-five team in the ACC Power Rankings off of its dominant 38-3 win over Miami (Ohio) on Friday night.
Center Matt Lee, kicker Andy Borreagales, linebacker Francisco Mauigoa, and running back Henry Parrish spoke to the media on Wednesday. Borreagales kicked three field goals versus Miami (Ohio), Mauigoa led the Hurricanes with five tackles and Parrish topped Miami in rushing in the season opener.
Brian Smith of All Hurricanes posed the question “Tyler Van Dyke vs Conner Weigman: Miami Hurricanes’ Advantage?” Smith discussed how the QBs would be: 1) Facing adversity for the first time, 2) How’d that feel? and 3) Which quarterback can be trusted when a big play will absolutely be needed?”
Christopher Stock of Inside the U also previewed “Tyler Van Dyke, Hurricanes’ offense aiming for better results vs. No. 23 Texas A&M.” Van Dyke spoke with reporters earlier this week and stated that Miami has to get better in the red zone versus Texas A&M. Miami settled for three field goals in a 17-9 loss to Texas A&M in 2022.
Susan Miller Degnan of the Miami Herald wrote the Hurricanes athletic department offer of “Buy Miami ticket for Texas A&M, get one free for Georgia Tech. Canes want fans to show.” Miami will host Georgia Tech on October 7 to begin ACC play a week after the Hurricanes’ sole bye of the season.
Multiple media outlets posted their ACC Power Rankings following the completion of week one games with the shocking 28-7 Duke upset win over Clemson. The Miami football team was in the consensus top five of the ACC Power Rankings ahead of its week two game versus Texas A&M on Saturday.
Barkley Traux of On3 summarized former NFL running back Jacob Hester and Andy Staples of On3 discussing their “Texas A&M vs. Miami preview: Outcome will be determined by Aggies’ offensive attack.” Hester likes Texas A&M to win and cover the point spread, while Staples projects a closer game.
