Miami football 5 questions for Gigem Gazette

1) What has the difference been in the development at WR?

"There’s not been a lot of difference in development at the position per se. Last year, Jimbo (Fisher) swapped around some of the coaches, putting Dameyune Craig, who had been in charge of the WRs, over the QBs, and put James Coley over the WRs. Coley has now gone back to TE coach/co-OC now that Petrino is over QBs, and Craig is back over WRs. I think the biggest difference is scheme. If you check out the way the Aggie receivers played last year, you can see the individual talent, ability to separate, win one on one matchups, etc (Stewart against Alabama/Ole Miss and Muhammad against LSU come to mind). The ability to run free in Petrino’s offense without having to think so much about what you’re doing like receivers had to do under Jimbo’s system seems like it’s letting guys like Thomas and Stewart just play their game and let their athleticism shine"

2) What is the difference with Conner Weigman at QB over Max Johnson?

"The difference between Weigman and Johnson really does just come down to pure talent. Johnson has sneaky mobility and throws a beautiful deep ball, but Conner has legit speed—when he tucks it and runs you can tell the difference between him and Johnson immediately—and can deliver the ball in a precise window even with pressure in his face."
