The Miami football program received a five-star commitment in its third straight class from 2025 defensive lineman Armondo Blount on Thursday. Blount is the fifth-ranked prospect, second DL and second player in Florida in the 2025 Class according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.

The Miami football program previously signed five-star offensive tackles Francis Mauigoa and Samson Okunlola in the 2023 class and has a commitment from five-star wide receiver Joshisa Trader for 2024. Defensive tackle Leonard Taylor and safety James Williams were five-star signees in the 2021 Miami class.

Blount previously announced a top five of Florida State, Miami, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and USC on Tuesday. Alabama, Akron, Florida, Georgia Tech, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and USC all received visits from Blount. The 2025 Miami class moved up to fifth nationally following the commitment from Blount.

The 2025 Miami class received a commitment from four-star wide receiver Waden Charles on Sunday and three-star quarterback Luke Nickel in August. Georgia, Alabama, Oklahoma, Oregon and LSU are the 2025 classes rated ahead of Miami. All of those programs have more commitments than Miami.

Staying home was a plus for the Miami Central prospect. Blount told Gaby Urrutia of Inside the U that the culture and team bond, the defensive aggressiveness and signing South Florida players were a factor in his decision to commit to Miami. Miami freshman DL Rueben Bain signed in the 2023 class from Miami Central.

Blount transferred to Miami Central after previously playing for Fort Lauderdale Dillard. Per Urrutia, Blount was in attendance for the 48-33 Miami win over Texas A&M on Saturday. In two games this season, Blount has 16 tackles, three tackles for loss and three sacks this season.

The 2024 Miami class ranks 16. Miami has 22 commits in the 2024 class led by Trader and eight other blue-chip prospects. The Hurricanes need to continue building on the momentum gained by the win over Texas A&M. The win over the Aggies has paid dividends in the 2025 class, Miami needs to turn that into 2024 commitments.
