Jacolby George, Xavier Restrepo and Colbie Young have produced at a level that provides the Miami football team with one of the best wide receiver groups in the country. George, Restrepo and Young are all in the top 75 nationally in receptions per game and receiving yards per game this season.
Restrepo is 15th nationally averaging 104.7 receiving yards per game and 38th averaging 5.7 receptions per game. Young is 64th averaging 69.7 receiving yards per game and 58th averaging 5.0 receptions per game. George is 75th averaging 67.3 receiving yards per game and 46th averaging 5.3 receptions per game.
George is also sixth nationally with four touchdown receptions. Young is tied for 58th nationally with two TD receptions. George, Restrepo and Young are thriving in the Shannon Dawson modified Air Raid offense. Tyler Van Dyke and Emory Williams are getting the ball out quickly and allowing their receivers to make plays.
The Miami passing game is revitalized under Dawson. Tyler Van Dyke is far more comfortable in the Dawson offense. Miami ranks sixth nationally averaging 322.2 passing yards per game. The combined passer rating of Van Dyke and Williams of 196.11 is seventh nationally. Miami is completing 77.5 percent of its pass attempts.
Each of the Miami receivers provides Van Dyke and Williams with different traits. Restrepo is adept in the slot at getting open, forcing missed tackles and has been a big player receiver for Miami this season. Restrepo is tied for first nationally with 10 receptions of 20 yards or more.
George provides the Miami football team with the ability to play outside or in the slot. George had a breakout game against Texas A&M in what has become a breakout season. At 6’5, Young is a matchup problem for opposing secondaries. George, Restprepo and Young have all been consistent this season.
The four receptions Young had in the season-opening win over Miami (Ohio) are the least amount in a game among the big three Miami WRs this season. Clemson who is 10th nationally allowing 148.7 passing yards per game is the best pass defense Miami plays this season. Miami should continue to thrive passing throughout 2023.
