Miami Hurricanes News: Coaches preview Temple
Head coach Mario Cristobal, offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson and defensive coordinator Lance Guidry had their weekly meeting with reporters to preview the Miami Hurricanes football game against Temple on Saturday. Several websites that cover Miami summarized the press conferences and had early Temple previews.
David Lake of Inside the U summarized the weekly appearance of Cristobal on the Joe Rose Morning Show on WQAM. Among the topics, Cristobal discussed with Rose were that the Miami Hurricanes are playing with “toughness and physicality” the trip to Temple, an injury update and Dawson and Guidry.
Brian Smith of All Hurricanes wrote about “Miami’s Tyler Van Dyke Compared to Top College Football Quarterbacks.” Smith compared Van Dyke to Caleb Williams of USC, Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, Drake Maye of North Carolina, Michael Penix, Jr. of Washington, Sam Hartman of Notre Dame and Jayden Daniels of LSU.
Ralph Russo of the AP stated an “AP Top 25 Reality Check: Florida, Florida State, Miami ranked together for 1st time since 2017.” Florida State is fourth in the AP Top 25, Miami 20th and Florida had its 2023 debut ranked 25th. Miami should remain in the Top 25 after its next two games versus Georgia Tech and Temple.
Shawn Pastor of Owls Daily wrote “Temple D-line ‘has got to play their butts off,’ Drayton says.” Owls Daily is the 247 Sports Temple website and Pastor was quoting head coach Stan Drayton. Temple has injuries on its offensive line and front seven defensively in a game when they are already overmatched physically.
Carter Lutz of the Miami Hurricane student newspaper wrote that “Miami isn’t back just yet, but the Hurricanes are on the track back to success.” Lutz quoted Cristobal and quarterback Tyler Van Dyke in addition to laying out the coaching and personnel changes made to the Miami Hurricanes football roster for 2023.
