Miami Hurricanes football players Te’Cory Couch, Javion Cohen, Cam McCormick and Darryl Porter Jr. spoke to the media on Tuesday preparing for Temple on Saturday. Various reports stated that McCormick will petition the NCAA for a ninth season. The week four ACC Power Rankings are out.
Couch and Porter were asked about their relationships with Miami Hurricanes cornerback Jaden Davis who transferred from Oklahoma during the offseason. Couch and Porter have each known Davis since their young days playing seven-on-seven flag football. Cohen spoke about the similarities between Alabama and Miami.
McCormick discussed his adeptness as a blocker. The ability to block was the quickest way that McCormick felt he could get on the field. McCormick is petitioning the NCAA to have the option of returning for a ninth college football season. McCormick has had significant injuries throughout his college career.
David Lake of Inside the U posted a “Defensive Notebook: Temple QB E.J. Warner will test Miami with how quick he gets the ball out.” Warner is the son of Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner. Lake pointed out that “Warner ranks fourth in the country in average time to throw, getting the ball out in 2.39 seconds.”
Brian Smith of All Hurricanes examined “How Miami Can Be A College Football Giant Again.” Smith came up with the points that the Miami administration must be proactive, keep former Canes involved with the football program, big-time QB play is a must, recruit elite talent and elite assistant coaches must stay in Coral Gables.
Shawn Pastor of Owls Daily wrote that former Miami defensive tackle Allan “Haye looks forward to matchup with former Miami teammates.” Haye told Pastor he was not aware that Miami was playing Temple in 2023 when considering transferring from Coral Gables to Philadelphia. Haye has started all three games for the Owls.
