Miami football runs for 323 yards beating Temple 41-7

The Miami football team got off to a 24-0 lead in the first half behind 323 rushing yards won 41-7 at Temple on Saturday. Henry Parrish set a career-high with 139 rushing yards on 16 carries with two touchdowns. Miami finished the game with 323 rushing yards. Don Chaney JR. had nine carries for 61 yards rushing.

Mami set a tone for the game with TDs on their first two drives and a field goal on the third to race to a 17-0 lead. Miami scored a third first-half TD on a 13-yard Parrish run with 1:02 remaining before halftime to extend the lead to 24-0. Miami relaxed a bit defensively and Temple scored late to cut the deficit to 24-7.

Two turnovers played a huge role in Miami taking the 24-7 halftime lead. On their second drive of the game, Temple drove to the Miami 18 yardline. After allowing a 46-yard reception earlier on the drive, Te’Cory Couch had his first of two interceptions in the end zone. Miami scored on the following drive to lead 14-0.

The other Temple turnover came when they fumbled with 2:16 remaining in the first half to give Miami the ball at the Owls’ 24 yardline. That preceded the third Miami TD. Miami took the 24-7 halftime lead despite only having a 232-196 advantage in total yards. The Hurricanes were far more dominant in the second half.

Miami had 311 yards in the second half while holding Temple to 83. The Hurricanes finished with 543 yards while holding Temple to 289. Center Matt Lee and Parrish left the game with injuries in the second half and did not return. With Miami holding the big lead there was no need for Lee and Parrish to return.

Tyler Van Dyke completed 17 passes in 24 attempts for 220 yards with three TDs and no interceptions. Xavier Restrepo led Miami with seven receptions for 41 yards and two TDs. Jacolby George had five receptions for a team-high 90 yards and Colbie Young also scored once.

Miami enters their bye week topping over 450 yards for the fourth straight game this season and scoring over 40 points for the third straight game. Miami returns home on October 7 to begin ACC play against Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets are 1-2 and play Wake Forest on Saturday and host Bowling Green next week.
