Miami football moves up to 18th in both week 5 national polls

The Miami Football team moved up to 18th in the Associated Press Top 25 and the USA Today Coaches Poll that were released on Sunday. Miami moved up in both polls following an impressive 41-7 win at Temple on Saturday. The Hurricanes are off until October 7 when they host Georgia Tech.

Miami moved up three spots in the USA Today Coaches Poll. The Hurricanes received 485 points to rank behind number 17 Washington State and 19th-ranked Tennessee. Miami was able to move up after Mississippi fell four spots in the polls following a loss to Alabama and Washington State fell six spots following a loss to Oregon State.

Florida State is the highest-ranked ACC team at fourth in the USA Today Coaches Poll. The Seminoles fell one spot in the week five polls. North Carolina is 15th and Duke is 16th among the ACC teams who are in the top 25. Louisville, Clemson and Syracuse are 32-34 among other ACC teams receiving votes.

Miami plays at North Carolina on October 14, hosts Clemson on September 21, is at Florida State on November 11 and hosts Louisville on November 18. Duke and Syracuse are not on the 2023 regular season Miami football schedule. Miami could play Duke or Syracuse in the ACC Championship Game.

The Miami football team is ranked beyond number five Florida State, 15th ranked North Carolina and Duke who is 17th among ACC Teams in the Associated Press Top 25. Miami has 523 points in the AP Top 25. Duke is comfortably ahead of Miami. Oregon State is 100 points behind Miami ranked 19th.

In addition to Mississippi and Oregon State dropping behind Miami, Colorado fell completely out of both polls, allowing the Hurricanes to move up. Miami has a big October awaiting them with chances to move up. The game at North Carolina will be critical in the race for a berth in the ACC Championship Game.
