Miami Hurricanes News: football metrics, hoops ACC schedule released

The Miami Hurricanes football team ranks among the top teams in the country in several metrics through the first four games of the season. The Miami men’s and women’s basketball teams learned their ACC schedules on Tuesday. Miami has one of the top 35 women’s college basketball transfers for the 2023-24 season.

Through the first four weeks of the 2023-24 season, the Miami Hurricanes football team and Syracuse are the only two programs that are in the top 15 nationally in scoring and total offense and defense. Miami and Syracuse are not scheduled to meet during the regular season but could play in the ACC Championship Game.

David Lake of Inside the U examined the “Deep Ball Efficiency & Quick Game: Tyler Van Dyke is one of the best passers in the country through four games.” Lake added in the subtitle that “Quarterback Tyler Van Dyke has graded out as the best passer in the country, according to Pro Football Focus.”

Marcus Benjamin the CanesCounty Publisher took “A look at Miami’s 4-0 teams this century and how they finished.” The Miami football teams who started 4-0 since 2000 are the 2001 national champions, 2002 runner-up, 2003, 2004, 2013, 2016 and the 2017 ACC Coastal Division Champions.

The Miami Hurricanes men’s and women’s basketball teams each had their ACC schedules unveiled on the ACC network on Tuesday. The men’s team will play 12 times on the ACC Network during the 2023-24 season. The Miami women’s team will have five appearances on the ACC Network this season.

ESPN ranks Miami guard Shayeann Day-Wilson 13th among transfers, saying in part “The Hurricanes seem like the perfect landing spot…for Day-Wilson…After an ACC Freshman of the Year season in 2021-22, Day-Wilson saw her numbers drop across the board last season in Durham. Miami (needs her) 12.7 PPG and 3.7 APG.”

Several websites posted their weekly ACC Power Rankings. On3 ranked Miami second in the ACC. The Hurricanes are higher ranked by On3 compared to most sites and the top 25. Miami is second in the On3 ACC Power Rankings. Florida State who is in the top five nationally in both polls is the consensus top team in the ACC.
