The Miami football team will return from its bye week when they host Georgia Tech on Saturday. Head coach Mario Cristobal, defensive coordinator Lance Guidry and offensive Coordinator Shannon Dawson spoke to reporters on Monday to provide updates on the team and to look ahead to Saturday.
Cristobal gave extensive injury updates. Safety Kamren Kinchens will play on Saturday after missing the last two games. Tight end Elijah Arroyo is expected to make his 2023 debut after missing a year following a torn ACL. Defensive linemen Branson Deen and Akheem Mesidor will hopefully play Saturday per Cristobal.
Cristobal stated that offensive tackle Zion Nelson and running back Tre’Vonte Citizen who missed all of the 2022 season and have not played this year are “real close” to returning per Cristobal. Nelson hasn’t played due to complications from knee surgery. Citizen suffered a severe knee injury during 2022 August training camp.
