Miami football gets ABC primetime spot at North Carolina

The Miami football team will play at North Carolina on Saturday with a 6:30 PM kickoff on ABC. Saturday will be the second of three consecutive weeks Miami will play in primetime. Clemson at Miami will played next Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC or 8 p.m. ET on the ACC Network with the game times to be determined after Saturday.

Sean McDonough will call the game for ABC with Greg McElroy providing analysis and Molly McGrath as the sideline reporter. The Miami football team lost to Georgia Tech in primetime on the ACC Network on Saturday. Miami at North Carolina will be the season’s fourth primetime game for the Hurricanes.

Miami began the season versus Miami (Ohio) on Friday night, September 1. The Hurricanes also played a night game versus Bethune-Cookman on September 14 in addition to the Georgia Tech game on Saturday. Miami enters the game at North Carolina as a 3.5-point underdog per Fan Duel.

North Carolina enters the game on Saturday with a 5-0 record. The Tar Heels beat Syracuse 40-7 on Saturday. Miami hopes to rebound from a 23-20 humiliating loss to Georgia Tech. North Carolina is 2-0 in the ACC and Miami has an 0-1 conference record. North Carolina has won the last five versus Miami.

Using the Associated Press Top 25 Miami at North Carolina is one of four games between ranked teams this weekend. Number eight Oregon will play at seventh-ranked Washington in the ESPN Gameday featured contest. Tenth-ranked USC is at number 21 Notre Dame and number 18 UCLA is at 18th-ranked Oregon State.

North Carolina leads the all-time series with Miami 13-11. The Tar Heels have won four straight games versus the Hurricanes. North Carolina is 7-3 at home versus Miami. North Carolina won 27-24 last season. Last season Tyler Van Dyke threw for a career-high 496 yards in the loss to North Carolina.

North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye and Van Dyke should have another interesting battle in their third straight seasons as their teams’ starters. Maye threw for 295 yards two touchdowns, two interceptions and added 53 yards rushing versus Miami in 2022. Miami and North Carolina should be an entertaining game.
