Miami football top 5 most improved offenses over 2022

Entering their game at North Carolina on Saturday, the Miami football team has one of the five most improved offenses in 2023. Miami, New Mexico and New Mexico State are the only teams in the top five in most improved total yards per game and per play in 2023 over their 2022 production.

Miami is fifth nationally with a 2.22 yards per play improvement in 2023 from 2022. Miami averaged 5.33 yards per play in 2022 and 7.55 yards per play this season. The Hurricanes are sixth nationally in yards per play. New Mexico State is the only team among the top five in yards per play producing more than Miami in 2023.

The Aggies are averaging 7.92 yards per play after producing 6.35 in 2022. Texas State has the most improvement in 2023 from 4.72 yards per play in 2021 to 7.13 this season. New Mexico is second averaging 6.35 up from 3.94 in 2022 and UMass is third at 6.29 up from 4.00 in 2022.

The Miami football team has shown the fourth-most improvement in yards per game in 2023. The Hurricanes are averaging 505.8 yards under new offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson. That is up from 367.1 yards per game that Miami averaged in 2022. Miami is seventh nationally in total offense through last week’s games.

The Miami football team is first among the most improved offenses in yards per game in 2023. By any measure, Miami has the most improved Power Five offense this season. Colorado is slightly behind Miami averaging 134.5 more total yards per game over last season. Miami is averaging 138.7 more yards per game.
