Miami football drops into 30s in national rankings
The Miami football team fell to 35th in the Associated Press rankings and 33rd in the USA Today Coaches Poll that were released on Sunday. Miami entered the weekend 25th in the AP Top 25 and 26th in the USA Today Coaches Poll. The Hurricanes fell out of the AP Top 25 for the first time since week three.
Miami entered the AP Top 25 for the first time this season following its 48-33 win over Texas A&M in week two. The Miami football team was ranked as high as 17th in the AP Top 25 poll that was released on October 15. Miami fell out of the USA Today Coaches Poll following its 23-20 loss to Georgia Tech last week.
Miami received one point in the AP Top 25 and 12 points in the USA Today Coaches Poll. Following their 41-31 win over Miami on Saturday night, North Carolina moved up two spots to 10th in both polls. The Tar Heels received 1,011 points in the AP Top 25 and 1,038 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
Florida State is the highest-ranked team in the ACC in both polls. The Seminoles are fourth in both polls. Florida State received 1,388 points in the AP Top 25 and 1,390 USA Today Coaches Poll. Duke is the next highest-ranked ACC team. The Blue Devils are 16th in the AP Top 25 and 17th in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
Duke received 593 points in the AP Top 25 and 590 points in the USA Today Coaches Poll. Louisville is the only other ACC Team ranked in the top 25. The Cardinals are 17th in both polls. Louisville recevied 309 points in the AP Top 25 and 309 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. Louisville dropped significantly after losing to Pittsburgh.
Clemson is 27th in both polls. The Tigers received 35 points in the AP Top 25 and 54 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. No other ACC teams received votes in either poll. Miami hosts Clemson on Saturday and Louisville on November 18. Florida State hosts Miami on November 4 and the Hurricanes do not play Duke in the regular season.
