Miami basketball 13th in both preseason national polls
The Miami basketball team is ranked 13th nationally in the Associated Press Top 25 and USA Today Coaches preseason polls that were released on Monday. Miami is the second-highest-ranked ACC team. Duke is ranked second in the AP Top 25 preseason poll and third in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
The Miami basketball team received 750 points in the Associated Press Top 25. Miami had 390 points in the USA Today Coaches poll. North Carolina is the only other ACC team in the Preseason Top 25s. The Tar Heels are 19th in the AP Top 25 and 21st in the USA Today Coaches Poll. Only one other ACC team received votes.
Virginia received 27 points in the AP Poll to rank 31st nationally. The Cavaliers received 13 points in the USA Today Coaches poll to place them 33rd nationally. Kentucky is the only other team on the 2023-24 Miami basketball schedule that is ranked. The Wildcats are 16th in both the AP Top 25 and the USA Today Coaches Poll.
Kentucky received 530 points in the AP Top 25 and 261 in the USA Today Coaches poll. Miami plays at Kentucky on Tuesday, November 28 in the inaugural ACC/SEC Challenge. The Hurricanes potentially have games versus two more teams that received votes in the AP Top 25 and USA Today Coaches polls.
Miami will play in the NABC Brooklyn Showcase at the Barclay’s Center on Sunday, December 10 versus Colorado. The Buffaloes are 27th in the AP Top 25 with 49 points and 30th in the USA Today Coaches poll with 21 points. Earlier in the season, Miami will begin the Baha Mar Bahamas Hoops Championship versus Georgia.
Miami will play Kansas State or Providence in the second game in the Bahamas. Kansas State is 35th in the AP and USA Today Coaches polls. The Wildcats had 13 points in the AP Poll and eight in the USA Today Coaches polls. No one else on the 2023-24 Miami basketball schedule received votes in either national poll.
