With 47 receptions in the first six games, wide receiver Xavier Restrepo is on pace to shatter the single-season reception record for the Miami football program. Charleston Rambo set the Miami single-season record with 79 receptions and 1,172 receiving yards in 2021. Restrepo has 574 receiving yards this season.

Restrepo needs 33 receptions and 599 receiving yards throughout the rest of the 2023 season to break the Miami football single-season program records. Miami needs two more wins to qualify for a bowl game. If Miami plays 13 games this season including a bowl, Restrepo would shatter both records.

In 13 games, Restrepo is on pace for over 101 receptions and 1,244 receiving yards this season. Rambo played in only 12 games in 2021. Miami was unable to play in a bowl game after a COVID outbreak. Restrepo is moving up the Miami career leaderboard for receptions, receiving yards and touchdown catches.

Restrepo currently has 93 receptions for 1,199 yards and eight career TDs. At his current pace, Restrepo will have 147 career receptions for 1,826 yards and 12 touchdowns at the end of the season. Those numbers would place Restrepo fourth in Miami career receptions, 12th in receiving yards and 18th in TDs.

With one more season of eligibility remaining, Restrepo will be on pace to shatter the career reception and receiving yardage records next season. After missing seven games in 2022, Restrepo has become the favorite receiver for Miami quarterback Tyler Van Dyke. Restrepo leads the ACC with 7.8 receptions per game.

Restrepo is second in the ACC averaging 95.7 yards per game. Rambo averaged 6.6 receptions per game and 97.7 receiving yards per game during his record-setting 2021 season. Restrepo should become the most prolific receiver for one season this year and break the Miami career receiving records in 2024.

The only records that should be safe from Restrepo are the season and career TD-receiving records. Leonard Hankerson set the single-season Miami TD receiving record with 13 in 2010. Michael Irvin holds the Miami career TD-receiving record with 26. Hankerson was the most recent player to get close with 22 career receiving TDs.
