Miami Hurricanes News: players speak to media, ACC men’s tipoff
Defensive linemen Rueben Bain and Leonard Taylor and wide receivers Breshard Smith and Colbie Young were the Miami Hurricanes player representatives. Miami Head Coach Jim Larrañaga will be joined by returning starters Norchad Omier and Nijel Pack at the ACC Men’s Basketball Tipoff in Charlotte on Wednesday.
Susan Miller Degnan of the Miami Herald wrote “Miami freshman Rueben ‘Hurricane’ Bain ‘manhandling’ opponents, drawing national attention.” Miller Degnan quoted Bain from his nearly 10 minutes with reporters on Tuesday, Mario Cristobal and Bain’s cousin and former Hurricane Tolbert Bain discussing his play.
Smith, Taylor and Young all had big impacts in the 28-20 double-overtime win over Clemson on Saturday. Smith had nine touches for 123 yards, Taylor, five tackles and two tackles for loss and Young six receptions for 76 yards and a key fourth-quarter touchdown to ignite a 10-point Miami comeback versus Clemson.
The Miami Hurricanes basketball representatives at ACC Tipoff arrive in Charlotte in a very different position than a year ago. Following its first Final Four, Miami returns Pack, Wooga Poplar and Omier as starters in 2023-24. Miami is second among ACC teams in the Preseason AP Top 25 and USA Today Coaches Polls.
