Adam Lichtenstein of the Sun Sentinel reported two hours before kickoff that starting quarterback Tyler Van Dyke is “good to go to start versus Virginia this afternoon” for the Miami football team per a source. Van Dyke sat out the win last week over Clemson because of a bruised leg. Emory Williams started in place of Van Dyke.

Miami offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson called a very conservative game versus Clemson with Williams at QB. Miami had 362 total yards against Clemson. The previous low for the Miami football team was 451 total yards in their 48-33 win over Texas A&M. Miami is second in the ACC averaging 481.9 total yards per game.

Van Dyke leads the ACC with a 70.5 completion percentage, 9.4 yards per attempt and a 171.8 passer rating. Van Dyke is second in the ACC with 16 touchdown passes and averaging 286.8 passing yards per game entering week nine. Miami needs Van Dyke to cut down on interceptions.

Van Dyke has thrown five interceptions combined in the last two games he played versus Georgia Tech and North Carolina. Miami has a plus-six turnover margin in their five wins and minus-six in their two losses. Williams completed 24 passes in 33 attempts for 151 yards, one TD and one interception versus Clemson.

Virginia is eighth in the ACC allowing 223.4 passing yards per game. The Cavaliers are 12th in the ACC allowing a 133.19 passer rating and 10th with opponents completing 60.3 percent of their pass attempts. Van Dyke should thrive against a mediocre pass defense. Virginia is 10th in the ACC allowing 10 TD passes.
