Miami basketball programs sign top 10 classes

Both Miami basketball programs signed top 10 classes on Early Signing Day on Wednesday. Jim Larranaga and the Miami Men’s basketball programs signed three players who form the sixth-ranked 2024 class. Katie Meier and the Miami Women’s basketball program signed the ninth-ranked class per ESPN W.

The Miami Basketball program signed five-star shooting guard Jalil Bethea, four-star SG Austin Swartz and three-star small forward Isaiah Johnson-Arigu on Wednesday. Bethea who is the seventh-ranked player in the 2024 Miami Class is the highest-graded signee in Hurricanes basketball history.

Bethea is the seventh-ranked player in the 2024 class, third-ranked SG and top Pennsylvania prospect. Swartz is the 50th-ranked prospect, 10th SG and fifth-best player in North Carolina for 2024. Johnson-Arigu is the 133rd prospect, 26th SF and fifth player in Minnesota in the 2024 class.

The Miami Women’s basketball program signed guards Ahnay Adams, Leah Harmon and Simone Pelish on Wednesday. Harmon is a five-star point guard who is the 30th-ranked player in the 2024 class and the eighth-best point guard. Adams is the 37th-ranked prospect and 10th-ranked PG in the 2024 Class.

Pelish is a four-star prospect who ranks outside of the ESPN Hoop Gurlz top 100. The Miami Women’s basketball program is coming off of its first Elite Eight in Program history. Miami opens the season on Thursday at 11:00 AM versus Jacksonville. Meier added four transfers to the 2023-24 Miami basketball roster.

The three 2024 signees for the Miami Men’s basketball program will add to the 11 players currently on the roster. Men’s college basketball rosters can only have 13 players on scholarship. Miami could lose any combination of Norchad Omier, Nijel Pack and Wooga Poplar following the 2023-24 season.

Omier and Pack are in their fourth seasons of College Basketball and Poplar is in his third. All three players have two seasons of eligibility remaining. Miami could also potentially lose players to the transfer portal. The roster concerns for Jim Larranaga and his stiff will not happen until the spring.
