After a season-opening 101-60 win over NJIT the Miami basketball team will host Central Florida on Friday night. Miami will raise its first-ever Final Four banner about 20 minutes before tipoff versus UCF. Central Florida defeated FIU 85-62 in its season opener. The Knights finished 19–15 in the 2022-23 season.

The Miami basketball team received great balance in its season opener. Wooga Poplar led the way in the season opener with a career-high 21 points. Nochad Omier scored 20 points with 10 rebounds and four assists. In his Miami debut, Matthew Cleveland scored 16 points with 10 rebounds and four assists.

Jaylin Sellers led Central Florida in their season opener with 23 points. Darius Johnson was the only other Knight in double figures with 15. Four other Knights scored at least seven. Central Florida struggled making just seven of its 24 three-point attempts and 16 – 23 from the free throw line.

Miami was blazing on Monday making 39 of 72 from the floor and 12 of 28 its three-point attempts. The Hurricanes can improve after making 11 of 17 free throw attempts. Nijel Pack struggled from the floor making three of nine attempts, but added five rebounds and nine assists.
