The biggest injury news for the Miami football team was the compound arm fracture starting quarterback Emory Williams suffered at Florida State last week. Williams is out for the remainder of the 2023 season but is expected to return for spring practice if recovery and rehab go well per head coach Mario Cristobal.

With Williams out, Tyler Van Dyke returns as the starting quarterback. Miami needs Van Dyke to play turnover-free versus Louisville. There have been three other injury updates for the Miami football team this week. Running backs Ajay Allen and Henry Parrish are listed as probable and tight end Elijah Arroyo is questionable.

According to Team Rankings Allen is expected to return on Saturday after missing the last two games. Parrish also did not play last week versus Florida State but is expected to return versus Louisville. Per Team Rankings, Allen and Parrish had undisclosed injuries. Arroyo has also missed the last two games.

Arroyo has played in four games this season without recording a reception. After tearing his ACL in 2022, Arroyo has been a minimal contributor to the 2023 Miami football team. Mario Cristobal rarely gives injury updates. It is not clear what the current injury to Arroyo is that has him listed as questionable.

In addition to Williams, defensive linemen Nyjalik Kelly, Akheem Mesidor and offensive lineman Samson Oklunlola are also out for the season. Team Rankings lists Miami RB Tre’Vonte Citizen as out for Saturday. Citizen has yet to make his Miami debut after suffering a serious knee injury during 2022 training camp.

The only Louisville players on the Team Ranking injury report are defensive back Jarvis Brownlee Jr. who is listed as questionable and DB M.J. Griffin and OL Renato Brown who are listed as out. Brownlee missed last week’s game versus Virginia but has 21 tackles, one TFL, one fumble recovery and four pass breakups in 2023.

Brownlee has played in eight games with two starts this season. Brown suffered a season-ending leg injury during training camp and Brown has been out since October. Brownlee being out hinders the depth of the Louisville secondary. There have been no updates on Miami starting CB Darryl Porter Jr. who was out at Florida State.
