Miami football: Louisville has been different team on the road

Louisville has played far better at home this season than on the road ahead of the game at Miami on Saturday. The Miami football team needs to get the crowd in the game. Louisville is averaging 38.8 points per game on the road and 23.5 on the road. The Cardinals allow 12.5 PPG at home and 24.5 PPG on the road.

Louisville is fourth in the ACC averaging 439.0 total yards per game. The Cardinals are averaging 459.7 yards per game at home and 408.0 at road or neutral sites. Louisville is second in the ACC allowing 300.1 yards per game. The Cardinals allow 277.8 yards per game at home and 333.5 on the road and at neutral sites.

The Miami football team is fifth in the ACC averaging 427.6 yards per game. The Hurricanes average 437.3 yards per game at home. Miami is third in the ACC allowing 312.5 yards per game. The Hurricanes allow 297.5 yards per game at home. Miami has allowed 338.8 yards per game versus ACC teams.

Running back Jawhar Jordan is the foundation of the Louisville offense. Jordan has averaged 121.17 rushing yards per game at home and 62.25 per game on the road. Jordan averages 24.3 receiving YPG at home and 11.8 on the road. The Louisville passing game has mixed splits.

Louisville leading receiver Jamari Thrash is averaging 5.2 receptions for 64.6 yards per game at home. Thrash is averaging 5.8 receptions for 102.8 receiving yards at home. The splits for Louisville quarterback Jack Plummer need deeper examination. Plummer is averaging 280.3 passing YPG on the road and 213.5 at home.

Plummer completes 57.4 percent of his passes, with a 129.76 passer rating, six TDs and six interceptions on the road. Plummer completes 74.8 percent of his passes with a 184.24 passer rating, 10 touchdowns and three interceptions at home. The Miami football team has to make Plummer feel uncomfortable.

Louisville has allowed only four sacks in four road or neutral site games this season. The Cardinals have been worse protecting Plummer at home allowing 23 sacks in six games. Miami is averaging 3.33 sacks per game at home and 3.25 on the road. Miami also has to limit the big plays for the Louisville offense.

Louisville leads the ACC with six plays of 60 yards or more this season. Jordan is first in the ACC with nine plays of 30 or more yards this season.  Thrash is third in the ACC with seven receptions of 30 or more yards and with four receptions for 40 or more yards. Miami needs to set the tone for Louisville.
