Miami Hurricanes News: Basketball wins, FB last week regular season
The Miami Hurricanes men’s basketball team improved to 5-0 with a win over Kansas State to capture the Baha Mar Hoops Bahamas Championship. The Miami women’s basketball team defeated Southern on Sunday afternoon. Football has reached the final week of the regular season after the loss to Louisville.
Nijel Pack led the way for the Miami Hurricanes basketball team scoring 28 points on 9-16 from the floor and 7-12 from three against his former team. Miami controlled the game throughout and won 91-83. The Hurricanes led by at least seven points for the final 35:19. Norchad Omier had 23 points and seven rebounds.
The Miami women’s basketball team needed a 20-12 fourth quarter to earn a 61-57 win versus Southern on Sunday at the Watsco Center. Jasmyne Roberts led Miami with 17 points and Duke transfer Shayeann Day-Wilson scored 13. Miami improved to 3-0 with the win and host a Thanksgiving Tournament next weekend.
Head coach Mario Cristobal and coordinators Shannon Dawson and Lance Guidry will speak to reporters on Monday. Miami enters the final week of the regular season needing a win at Boston College to clinch a winning record. Boston College and Miami are both 6-5 entering the final game of the regular season.

Jerry Palm of CBS Sports projects the Miami football team to make another trip to El Paso to play Utah in the Sun Bowl. Utah is 7-4 after starting 5-0. The game would be a battle between the U’s. Miami last played in the 2015 Sun Bowl. The Hurricanes had to pull out of the 2021 Sun Bowl following a team Covid outbreak.
