Guard Javion Cohen became the first Miami football player to announce he is entering the 2024 NFL Draft with a tweet on Monday that he accepted an invite to the Senior Bowl. Cohen will leave a vast hole for Mario Cristobal and Alex Mirabal to fill on the offensive line. Expect several Hurricanes to enter the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Miami football team has 10 scholarship seniors listed on their roster. Several of those players have eligibility remaining due to COVID-19 and medical redshirts. Miami will lose several players off its 2023 roster with eligibility remaining. The Miami defensive line and secondary will likely be most affected by early draft entrants.

Cristobal is building a deep roster that projects to the future to fill spots left open by players who leave early for the NFL or enter the transfer portal. Miami is likely to be very active in the transfer portal to fill positions of need. Five of the current DL transferred to Miami in the last two offseasons.

Miami was busy in the transfer portal in 2023, adding cornerbacks Davonte Brown, Jaden Davis and Jadais Richard. Safety will probably be the focus in the secondary for Miami in 2024. Redshirt freshman Jaden Harris started for Miami at safety this season when Kamren Kinchens missed two games due to injury.

Miami is not very deep or experienced on the OL. Cohen and center Matt Lee have been critical to the improvement of the Miami OL in 2023. Expect Cristobal and OL coach Mirabal to add more depth and experience to the 2024 Miami OL. The 2024 transfer portal cycle will be critical for Miami.
