Miami Hurricanes News: Football dominates BC, WBB beats Colgate
The Miami Hurricanes football team concluded its regular season with a dominant 45-20 win over Boston College. The Miami women’s basketball team defeated Colgate 67-49 in the Miami Thanksgiving Tournament at the Watsco Center on Friday. All of the major Miami media outlets had post-game football coverage.
After allowing a touchdown on the game-opening drive, the Miami Hurricanes scored 28 unanswered points to assert control over Boston College. Miami was dominant defensively on the next four drives after allowing the opening TD to fall behind 7-0. Miami allowed 27 yards on 13 plays in the next four drives.
Inside the U wrote five takeaways on Miami’s offense and defense in two separate articles written by Christopher Stock and David Lake. Tyler Van Dyke was 23-36 for 290 and two touchdowns, Henry Parrish ran for 111 yards and two TDs and Xavier Restrepo had six receptions for 117 yards to lead Miami offensively.
Francisco Mauigoa led Miami defensively with nine tackles, two tackles for loss and one sack. Ahmad Moten and Marcellius Pulliam had unlikely interceptions on Friday. Miami held Boston College to 294 total yards, 4-12 on third down, 151 yards passing and had three TFLs and two sacks.
Greg Levinsky wrote for the Miami Herald “When the Hurricanes need him most, they know they can count on Restrepo.” After the game on Friday, Restrepo is second all-time in Miami history in a single season with 74 receptions and sixth with 993 yards. Restrepo is five receptions away from breaking the single-season record.
The Miami Women’s basketball team overcame an 18-12 deficit at the end of the first quarter to defeat Colgate on Friday. Miami tied the game at 25 by halftime and outscored Colgate 42-24 in the second half. Jasmyne Roberts led Miami with 13 points. Miami plays East Tennessee State tomorrow for the title.
The Miami football team next turns its attention to preparing for its bowl game, the transfer portal and the Early National Signing Period. Miami will find out its bowl date, destination and opponent on December 2. The transfer portal opens on December 4 and the Early National Signing Period is December 20-22.
