Miami Hurricanes News: FB PFF grades vs. BC, portal speculation
David Lake of Inside the U posted the Miami Hurricanes grades from Pro Football Focus on Saturday after their 45-20 win over Boston College on Friday. The Miami Women’s basketball team hosts East Tennessee State on Sunday in the Championship Game of the Miami Thanksgiving Tournament.
Safety James Williams led the Miami Hurricanes on Friday with an 85.7 grade from PFF. Williams finished with four tackles and one forced fumble. PFF credited Williams with allowing three receptions for 45 yards on five targets and an 89.7 coverage grade. Xavier Restrepo was the top offensive player with an 81.3 PFF grade.
The Miami Women’s basketball team has started the 2023-24 season 4-0. Miami defeated Colgate 67-49 in the semifinals of their Thanksgiving Tournament on Friday night. The Hurricanes previously had wins over Jacksonville, Southern and Fordham this season. East Tennessee State is 4-1 overall and 2-1 on the road.
Alex Donno of All Hurricanes and Locked on Canes discussed what positions Miami could target in the transfer portal and which players of their own need to be prioritized to keep on their roster for next season. Miami will lose several players to the NFL Draft and transfer portal. The Transfer Portal opens on December 4.
Christopher Stock of Inside the U discussed the Miami basketball game at Kentucky on Tuesday with Ben Roberts of the Lexington Herald-Leader. Miami has started the season 5-0 and Kentucky is 5-1. The Wildcats’ only loss was to previously top-ranked Kansas. The ESPN BPI gives Miami a 21.4 percent chance to win at Kentucky.
Susan Miller Degnan of the Miami Herald wrote that Mario “Cristobal: Miami about to enter ‘Wild, Wild West of college football.’ UM braces for change.” The article was in response to Cristobal being asked after the win over Boston College if he wanted to see Van Dyke return for the 2024 season.
In his meeting with the media on Tuesday, Van Dyke said he did not look that far in advance when asked if he would play in the Miami bowl game or if he was returning next season. Donno specifically discussed the 2024 Miami QB depth chart with Jacurri Brown or Van Dyke.
