Miami Hurricanes News: PFF season grades, Hoops preps for Kentucky
David Lake of Inside the U listed the “PFF Grades: Miami’s top 20 players for the 2023 season.” The Miami Hurricanes basketball team is preparing for its biggest game of the season at Kentucky on Tuesday night. Many Miami sites are conducting a review of the football regular season.
In what should be a record-setting season, Xavier Restrepo led the Miami Hurricanes with an 85.8 grade from Pro Football Focus. Restrepo has 74 receptions for 993 receiving yards and five touchdowns this season. Cornerback Darryl Porter Jr. had the highest Miami PFF defensive grade at 78.9.
Miami at Kentucky will be the marquee game on the opening night of the ACC-SEC Challenge. Ahead of the rankings released on Monday, Miami is ranked 10/11 in the AP Top 25 and USA Today Coaches Poll. Kentucky was ranked 16th in both polls last week. Miami is 5-0 and Kentucky is 3-1.
Canes County publisher Marcus Benjamin conducted a “Season Review: Miami improves in year two under Mario Cristobal.” Benjamin listed the areas Miami has improved this season and went into a deeper explanation of each area. Benjamin concluded by listing Miami’s strengths and what needs to be improved.
The Miami Women’s Basketball team defeated East Tennessee State 68-44 in the Miami Thanksgiving Tournament Title Game on Sunday to improve to 5-0. Miami is off until Wednesday when they play at Mississippi State in the inaugural ACC-SEC Women’s Basketball Challenge.
Chance Linton of 247 Sports wrote about “2024 college football transfer portal QBs: A running list of signal-callers from the Power Five.” With the potential for Miami to lose Tyler Van Dyke and Jacurri Brown to the portal, expect the Hurricanes to be aggressive in pursuing a transfer quarterback.

The Miami Volleyball team was selected for its third consecutive NCAA Tournament on Sunday. Miami will travel to Madison, Wisconsin to play Missouri Valley Conference Champion Northern Iowa (26-6, 18-0 MVC).
