Wide receiver Frank Ladson became the fifth Miami football player to enter the transfer portal on Wednesday. Ladson leaves Miami after two uneventful seasons following his transfer from Clemson. Ladson fell out of the WR rotation in 2023 after recording 27 receptions for 298 yards and one touchdown in 2022.

After being the fourth leading receiver on the Miami football team in 2022, Ladson did not record a reception in 2023. Ladson played in all 12 games in 2022 with nine starts. In 2023 Ladson was beaten out by Jacolby George and Colbie Young for first-team WR. Ladson had 58 receptions for 726 yards and three TDs at Clemson.

The Miami South Dade alum will have one season of eligibility remaining. Ladson had a big play against Florida State this season recovering an onside kick by the Seminoles to start the second half. Ladson played in only five games this season. At 6’4 and 205 pounds, Ladson has excellent size at WR.

Coming out of high school, Ladson was a four-star signee with Clemson in the 2019 Class. Ladson was the 39th overall prospect, seventh WR and fifth highest-ranked recruit in the 247 Sports Composite rankings. Ladson is currently the 245th-best 2024 transfer and 45th WR per 247 Sports.

The departure by Ladson clears a scholarship on the Miami football roster for next season. Tyler Harrell who had four receptions for 45 yards in 2023 after transferring from Alabama is the only other WR on the Miami roster who is scheduled to depart after the season. Harrell is a sixth-year senior in 2023.

Matt Zenitz of On3 was the first to report that Ladson is entering the transfer portal. Ladson will provide his new program with experience playing in the College Football Playoff at Clemson. Injuries have hindered Ladson’s career. Ladson dealt with sports hernia injuries on each side in consecutive seasons at Clemson.
