The Miami football program has glaring needs at defensive tackle, quarterback and safety. Expect those three positions to be targeted specifically in the transfer portal. Miami has been linked to several transfer quarterbacks after the portal opened on Monday. Players at several other positions of need have also been mentioned.

The Miami football program has already lost edge rushers Jahfari Harvey and Chantz Williams, linebacker Corey Flagg, QB Tyler Van Dyke, running back Don Chaney Jr and wide receiver Frank Ladson. to the transfer portal. Miami also lost DT Leonard Taylor and safeties Kamren Kinchens and James Williams to the NFL Draft.

Replacing Kinchens, Taylor, Van Dyke, and Williams are the priorities in the transfer portal. Quarterback and Safety are the biggest concerns for Miami through the transfer portal than defensive tackle. Miami needs to find starters at QB and safety. The Hurricanes need to add depth at DT.

Quarterback will create the most buzz in the transfer portal. There have already been multiple names that are reportedly interested in Miami. Cam Ward of Washington State, Dante Moore of UCLA, Kyle McCord of Ohio State, Will Howard of Kansas State and Will Rogers of Mississippi State have been mentioned at QB.

. Safety could be the most important position for the Miami football team in the transfer portal. Brian Balom is the only safety on the Miami roster projected to return in 2024.

Jaden Harris and Markeith Williams are listed on the Miami roster as defensive backs. Both players have experience playing safety. Harris signed as a cornerback, Williams as a safety. Miami needs to find two experienced safeties in the transfer portal. Miami has three commits listed as safeties committed to its 2024 class.

Dylan Day, Ryan Mack and Isaiah Thomas are three-star safety commits in the 2024 Class. Miami also has a commitment from four-star athlete Zaquan Patterson who is projected as a safety in college. Patterson has been projected as a potential starter as a freshman next season. Miami still needs to add depth at safety.
