Mario Cristobal and Miami football staff do it again flipping DL Kendall Jackson from Florida
For the second time in 10 days Mario Cristobal and the Miami football staff did it again flipping four-star defensive lineman Kendall Jackson from Florida. Miami already had the top DL in the 2024 class before flipping Jackson. Jason Taylor was the primary recruiter for Jackson and Joe Salave’a was the secondary recruiter.
Jackson is the 406th player, 44 DL and 52nd prospect in the 247 Sports 2024 composite rankings. The Miami football program has three DL in the 2024 class. Jackson joins five-star Chicago prospect Justin Scott and four-star Blountstown, Florida commit Artavius Jones. Miami also has four edge rushers in the 2024 class.
Earlier this week Rivals ranked the Miami DL Class first for 2024. After making the offensive line the priority in the 2023 class, Cristobal has made the DL the emphasis for 2024. The depth Miami is building on the DL for the future will allow Miami to rotate with little drop-off in production or talent.
Jackson has 104 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 14 sacks and 14 quarterback hurries in his high school career. This season Jackson has 50 tackles, four TFLs, three sacks and all 14 of his QB hurries. Jackson told Hayes Fawcett of On3 he was told by Miami he would be used as an edge rusher by the Hurricanes.
The ability to work under Taylor and the success of Rueben Bain as a freshman in 2023 were the primary reasons that Jackson chose to flip from Florida to Miami. Jackson told On3 that his main goal is to be a Hall of Famer and stated “What better way is there to get there than to be coached by one.”
In addition to Florida and Miami, Jackson also took official visits to Arkansas and Kentucky. Florida received the most overall visits from Jackson with 18. Miami was second with four overall visits from Jackson. The 2024 Miami class remains fifth after the commitment from Jackson. The Early National Signing Period is December 20-22.
