Cam Ward is the third-highest-ranked transfer QB behind Aiden Chiles who transferred from Oregon State to Michigan State and Moore who is second per the 247 Sports composite rankings. Ward seems to be the most sought-after transfer QB. A sizeable percentage of the Miami football fan base seems to prefer Ward.

In two seasons at Washington State after transferring from FCS Incarnate Word, Ward has completed 65.5 percent of his pass attempts for 6,968 yards, 48 TDs and 16 interceptions with 202 rushing yards and 13 scores. Ward is somewhere between a pro-style passer and a dual-threat QB.

Ward averaged less than one yard per carry in two seasons at Washington State. Andy Staples of On3 stated that programs with an Air Raid system would be a good fit for Ward. Dawson is from the Air Raid coaching tree but has adapted the system to be more balanced between passing and running.

With Early National Signing Day on December 20, the QB dominoes should continue to fall. Many teams want their QBs for 2024 solidified by the time the incoming class signs their National Letters of Intent. Other transfers will likely occur more slowly and during the second wave after spring practice.
