2027 Miami football target will make college commitment decision next week

Chuck Roberts, a 2027 safety at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., has set his commitment date for Dec. 29, with Miami in a final seven that also includes Florida, Missouri, North Carolina, Oregon, Tennessee and Washington.

Roberts is listed at 6-foot, 180 pounds and sits at No. 416 nationally in the 247Sports Composite, checking in as the No. 37 safety and No. 39 recruit in Florida.

Roberts left Bishop Alemany in Mission Hills, California, after his freshman season and headed to IMG to chase a bigger stage. He led the Mission League with 104 tackles as a freshman at Alemany before making the move. He also logged three tackles for loss and two sacks.

At IMG, the production has been different because the role is different and the roster is loaded, but the coverage profile jumps out. Roberts allowed just three completions this past fall. That range and reliability is why Miami is going after him.

Safeties coach Will Harris is one of the main recruiters of Roberts for Miami. He was previously at Florida and built a connection with Roberts that he has maintained, even after moving down to Coral Gables. Miami put together an impressive defensive backs recruiting class for 2026, and in 2027, the Hurricanes already have one safety committed. The safety committed is Jaylyn Jones out of Hollywood, Fla.
