C.J. Cypher ranked No. 4 on ESPN's list of the top 25 high school football players regardless of class
Recruiting a 2029 quarterback in 2026 must come with a reasonable expectations, but ESPN putting Cypher fourth regardless of class gives Miami a player to look forward to in the 2030s.
Cypher committed to Miami on June 24 alongside Carrollton teammate and cousin Kweli Fielder, a 2028 offensive line commit.
The Hurricanes also have a 2027 quarterback committed in Israel Abrams, as well as a 2028 quarterback committed in Knox Annis. For a program that has leaned heavily on transfer quarterbacks in recent years, gathering commitments from high school passers across multiple cycles is exactly how Miami can make the room more stable long term. Miami has brought in three straight signal callers to lead the way.
In his freshman season, Cypher threw for 2,178 passing yards, 26 touchdown passes and three interceptions in 14 games. He completed 144 of 201 passes, a 71.6% completion rate, while helping Carrollton reach the Georgia Class 6A state championship game.
Cypher also led Carrollton to the inaugural Under Armour Next S7VNS championship at IMG Academy, completing 39 of 64 passes with a tournament-best 10 touchdown passes. Cypher threw four touchdowns in the championship game as Carrollton beat Wunna Warriors 26-25.
