Miami 2025 signees quarterback Luke Nickel, interior offensive lineman S.J. Alofaituli and all-purpose player Malachi Toney, who projects as a wide receiver in college, were all named first-team All-Americans by Max Preps earlier this week. Alofaituli is the second-highest-ranked 2025 Miami signee and the top one on offense.
Nickel has the potential to be the future QB for Miami. If Miami does not add a QB through the 2025 transfer portal, Nickel should compete with 2025 redshirt freshmen Judd Anderson and Emory Williams to be the starting QB this fall.
Nickel, who is a consensus four-star prospect, is the 252nd signee overall, 23rd QB and 38th player in Georgia in the 2025 class according to the 247Sports composite rankings. In three seasons as the starter at Milton (Georgia) High School, Nickel completed 64.2 percent of his pass attempts for 10.165 passing yards, 107 touchdowns and 20 interceptions.
Nickel also ran for 700 yards and 15 TDs. Nickel's senior season was his best. Nickel completed 67.9 percent of his pass attempts for 3.744 yards, 44 TDs and seven interceptions while rushing for 300 yards and six scores while leading Milton to its first undefeated season and their second consecutive state championship.

Alofaituli is a consensus four-star signee in the 2025 class who is the 97th-ranked prospect, seventh interior offensive and the ranked second player in Nevada out of legendary Las Vegas Bishop Gorman High School in the 2025 class. Miami rising sophomore tight end Elija Lofton was a high school teammate of Alofaituli.
Alofaituli projects as the Miami center of the future. Miami added TCU transfer James Brockermeyer to start at center in 2025. Brockermeyer will be the third straight starting center for Miami out of the portal after Central Florida transfer Matt Lee in 2023 and Zach Carpenter in 2024.
Alofaituli could redshirt in 2025 or Miami could use him as a backup to Brockemeyer and potentially at guard. Miami returns rising redshirt freshman Nino Francavilla and redshirt senior Ryan Rodriguez as backups at center and as interior offensive linemen behind Brockermeyer.
"AP — Malachi Toney, American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.)Zach Poff, Max Preps

Alofaituli, Nickel and Toney could all have a chance to earn playing time in 2025. Miami returns four starters on the offensive line in 2025. Alofaituli will be the highest-rated Miami OL in 2025. Nickel will have a chance to compete to be the starter in 2025 depending on if Miami adds a transfer.
Miami lost its top four WRs off the 2024 roster. LSU transfer WR C.J. Daniels committed to Miami last month. Miami is expected to pursue more transfer WRs through the portal into the spring. The Hurricanes also return 2024 four-star WR signees Ny Carr, Chance Robinson and Joshisa Trader.
Alofaituli, Nickel and Toney get to add one final accolade to their high school resumes after winning respective state championships this season. Mario Cristobal is signing players who are performing at a high level and have learned how to win during their high school career.
