The Pro Football Hall of Fame named Miami legends defensive tackle Vince Wilfork, running back Frank Gore and wide receiver Reggie Wayne as semifinalists for the 2026 Pro Football Hall of Fame class on Tuesday.
Gore retired in 2020 and is in his first season of eligibility for the Hall of Fame. In 16 seasons in the NFL, Gore rushed for 16,000 yards, third all-time and 81 touchdowns and had 484 receptions for 3,985 yards and another 18 scores.
Gore finished 726 yards behind Walter Payton in career rushing yards. Emmitt Smith holds the NFL career record with 18,355 rushing yards. The San Francisco 49ers drafted Gore 65th overall in the 2006 NFL Draft. Gore spent the first 10 years of his NFL career with San Francisco.
After leaving San Francisco, Gore played three seasons with the Indianapolis Colts and one each with the Dolphins, Buffalo Bills and New York Jets. Gore had 1,975 rushing yards and 17 TDs and 23 receptions for 225 yards during an injury-plagued college career at Miami.

Wayne and Wilfork career achievements
Wayne has been eligible for the Hall of Fame since 2019. In 14 NFL seasons (all with Indianapolis), Wayne had 1,070 receptions for 14,345 yards and 82 TDs. Wayne was named first All-Pro in 2010 and was named to six Pro Bowls.
Wayne is third in Miami history with 173 receptions for 2,510 yards and fifth with 20 receiving TDs. Santana Moss, who played all four years with Wayne, broke his Miami receiving yardage with 2,546 yards in the 2001 Sugar Bowl win over Florida.
Moss had six receptions for 89 yards in the 2001 Sugar Bowl to pass Wayne, who had three catches for 49 yards. Mike Harley passed Wayne in 2021 with 173 career receptions at Miami. Xavier Restrepo set the Miami career record in 2024 with 200 career receptions. Restrepo is also the Miami leader with 2,844 receiving yards.

Wilfork finished his 13-year NFL career with 560 tackles, 39 tackles for loss, 38 quarterback hits, 16.0 sacks, 12 fumble recoveries, four forced fumbles (one returned for a TD) and three interceptions. Wilfork was named to five Pro Bowls and was first-team All-Pro in 2010.
The New England Patriots selected Wilfork with the 21st pick in the 2004 NFL Draft. New England won Super Bowls XXXIX and XLIX with Wilfork manning the middle of its 3-4 defense. Wilfork played his first 11 seasons with New England and his last two with the Houston Texans.
There are currently 11 University of Miami alums inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Gore, Wayne and Wilfork are attempting to join their former teammate, WR Andre Johnson, as Hurricanes who played on the 2001 National Championship team to be inducted into Canton.
