Chauncey Kennon, one of the nation’s top-ranked cornerbacks in the Class of 2026, has announced he will reveal his college commitment on July 6. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound defensive back is considering six programs: Florida, Georgia, Miami, LSU, Florida State, and Oregon. He has scheduled official visits with all but Oregon: Miami on May 30, Georgia on June 6, Florida State on June 13, and LSU on June 20.
Kennon is ranked as the No. 46 overall prospect and the No. 5 cornerback nationally in the 2026 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. His performance at Overtime’s OT7 event earlier this spring further solidified his status as one of the top defensive backs in the country. It was his matchup against Georgia WR commit Vance Spafford that turned heads.
The in-state programs — Florida, Florida State, and Miami — are considered strong contenders for Kennon's commitment. He has expressed a desire to stay close to home, stating, "I want to play at home at the end of the day, but it’s up to the in-state schools to do their job to keep me here." The inclusion of three Florida schools, as well as the University of Georgia and LSU, show Kennon's desire to remain close to home.
Florida hosted Kennon for an official visit on May 16 and is scheduled to have him back on campus for OTAs on June 3. The Gators have made a strong impression, with Kennon noting the program's investment in its players both on and off the field.
Miami has the No. 8 recruiting class in 2026, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. The Hurricanes have secured 11 commitments with eight of them rated four stars or higher. In the 2026 class, Miami already has three CB commits — 4-star Jaelen Waters, 4-star Jontavius Wyman and 4-star Camdin Portis.
