4-star safety could be target for Miami after decommitment from Clemson

Rivals/On3's Hayes Fawcett reported Monday that Blake Stewart, a 2026 four-star safety from the Atlanta area, decommitted from Clemson. Stewart (listed 6-1 and 185 pounds) plays at Woodward Academy after beginning his high school career at Landmark Christian in nearby Fairburn, GA. He committed to Clemson back in July. Miami has been rumored to be a team that will take a swing and try to get Stewart to commit.

High School Production

Stewart has 32 total tackles (24 solo), 1 INT, 1 forced fumble so far this fall (through Oct.17). As a junior in 2024, he stuffed the stat sheet with 80 tackles (4 TFL), 8 PBUs, 2 INT on defense. He also logged 38 catches for 467 yards and 3 TD, plus one kickoff-return TD and one punt-return TD on special teams. Stewart is a multi-sport athlete who has also played baseball, basketball and lacrosse, and he also recorded an 11.12 100-meter dash as an 11th-grader.

Rivals currently lists Stewart as a 4-star, the No. 149 overall in the nation, the No. 10 safety in the country, and the No. 20 recruit in the state of Georgia.

Miami's recruitment

Stewart has been offered by Miami and took both an unofficial (Apr. 10, 2025) and an official visit (June 13, 2025) to Coral Gables. Miami assistants Will Harris and Zac Etheridge are his main recruiters. Things aren't immediately clear as far as the reasons for Stewart decommiting. Clemson has had a disappointing year on the field but there have been many recruits that have stayed on board. Regardless of the reasoning, Miami looks ready to swoop in.
