Cortez Redding, a 4‑star safety from Jonesboro High School in Georgia, has officially cut his list of top schools to four and is gearing up for a commitment decision this summer. Redding announced via social media that his finalists are Miami, Indiana, NC State, and Ole Miss.

With good size for a safety, Redding comes in ranked No. 242 overall, No. 20 among safeties, and No. 24 in Georgia, per the 247Sports 2026 Composite rankings. His junior season was nothing short of impressive with 118 tackles, six tackles for loss, three interceptions, and ten pass breakups. Looking back to his sophomore year, Redding had 96 tackles, ten tackles for loss, one interception, and a forced fumble.

Over the past few months, Redding has been busy on the recruiting trail. Miami got the first official visit on May 30, NC State hosted him on June 6, followed by Ole Miss on June 13. NC State extended his offer back on May 6 of last year, making them a longtime player in his recruitment. Reports show that he plans to make his commitment decision on July 25.

The Hurricanes 2026 class remains one of the best in the nation as they still sit inside the top 10 at No. 9. Miami is also second in the ACC, only behind Clemson. Recently, Miami was able to flip 3-star linebacker, JJ Edwards, who was previously committed to Rutgers. On3 lists Edwards as the nation’s No. 53 LB and the No. 92 player in Florida. He is a three-star prospect with an On3 Industry Ranking of 87.13. It seems as though Miami is beginning to get some defensive players as of late.

Miami has been active in the secondary for the class of 2026 but does not have a safety committed. Jontavius Wyman, Jaelen Waters, and Camdin Portis are the cornerbacks that have verbally committed to Miami. All of them are 4-star recruits.
