Four-star safety Tyriq Green, a top prospect from Buford, Georgia, has set his college decision for this weekend. His decision is narrowed down to Georgia, Auburn and Miami. Green plans to announce his commitment on Saturday, with Georgia currently holding a strong lead.

Green, listed at 5‑10 and 191 pounds, has emerged as one of the nation’s most improved prospects. Ranked among the top 10 safeties in the 2026 class, he visited all three finalist schools on official visits. Insider Adam Gorney predicted that Green is most likely to stay home, citing his positive experience during the official visit to Georgia.

Miami is viewed as having a real shot in his recruitment despite some recent predictions that have Green going to Georgia. The Canes have emphasized the importance of securing Green to help the future of their secondary. In 2024, it was a position that struggled and caused Miami to lose games down the stretch. The defensive back position was prioritized in the transfer portal this past offseason, but the future still remains in question.

Landing Green would be a nice victory for Miami in the 2026 cycle but there is a silver lining if he does not choose to play football in Coral Gables. For starters, Miami is healthy at the cornerback position in the 2026 recruiting class with four CB commits already. Jontavius Wyman, Jaelen Waters, Camdin Portis and Brody Jennings are all committed and each are 4-star recuits according to On3.

The next part of this is that another 2026 safety recruit is slotted to make his decision this weekend. Blaek Stewart out of Woodward Academy (Fairburn, GA) has his commitment date set for Sunday and is deciding between Miami, Clemson, Michigan and Vanderbilt. Essentially, Miami just can't go 0-2 this weekend and it should have its potential safety of the future.
