Five-star offensive tackle and Miami commit, Jackson Cantwell, went viral after posting a clip of his workout in his high school weight room. Cantwell, who is also a top shot putter, posted a video on X where he can be seen close-grip bench pressing 475 pounds.
Cantwell has gone viral before for posting his workout clips. During his recruitment, Cantwell posted a video where he was able to complete a 505-pound pad bench press.
The strength of Cantwell is also on full display in the track and field realm. In April, Cantwell took the national lead in the shot put.
Cantwell is preparing for his senior season in the fall and clearly seems ready for the next level. During his commitment announcement, Cantwell mentioned that would early-enroll at the University of Miami to join the team in the spring of 2026. If these videos are any indication of his strength on the football field — which based off of his tape and five-star rating it seems to like it is — then he will be ready to compete when he arrives at Coral Gables.
Another piece of recent news on Cantwell was his slight drop in the rankings from 247sports. Cantwell, who still remains very highly rated and is the No. 1 player accoring to On3, was dropped from No. 3 to No. 10 by 247sports on Wednesday, which was just one day after he committed to Miami.
The timing of the updated rankings seemed like it may have had to do with his selection of Miami over other big programs like Ohio State and Georgia. But, it should be noted that no reason beyond the football field has been confirmed to be taken into account for the news rankings. Cantwell posted on X in response to the new rankings by saying, "Blessed to remain in 5 (star) status! Appreciate it." He also tagged Mike Roach and Tom Loy of 247sports.
