Monshun Sales, a five-star wide receiver from Indiana, narrowed his recruitment to 12 schools Thursday and included Miami among the programs he says are currently out in front. Sales' list: Alabama, Ohio State, LSU, Miami, Oregon, Missouri, Texas A&M, Michigan, Ole Miss, Notre Dame, Indiana and Tennessee. He identified seven standing out at this stage — Alabama, Ohio State, Miami, LSU, Indiana, Notre Dame and Oregon.

Miami has already hosted the 6-foot-5, 201-pound junior for a game-day visit this fall; Sales was in Hard Rock Stadium on Sept. 20 when the Hurricanes beat Florida and returned for additional face time the following day. He's also had recent trips to Ohio State (Aug. 30) and Notre Dame (Sept. 13 and Oct. 18) with a same-day stop at Michigan on Oct. 18. Texas A&M hosted him the first weekend of October, and he has had additional in-state time at Indiana.

Sales is the No. 14 overall player in the 2027 Rivals Industry Ranking, the No. 3 wide receiver in the country and the top player in Indiana. Sales currently plans to commit before his senior year.

From Miami's perspective, making the initial cut and landing a fall visit keeps the Hurricanes in the thick of a recruitment that will likely extend into 2026. Position coach Kevin Beard is the primary recruiter and Miami's appearance in the early lead group is a very positive sign. But, Miami is going up against some stiff competition. Every school on the list is currently ranked in the AP Top 25 going into Week 9 of the college football season. Indiana, which is Sales' home-state team, is having what is probably their best season in school history.

Miami will be essentially tasked with keeping up on the field, and will need to battle multiple blue-bloods along with Indiana HC Curt Cignetti to get Sales. It won't be easy, but Miami might just be able to pull it off.
